For Immediate Release:

GOSHEN, NY – Today, Alison Esposito, a 25-year veteran of the New York Police Department (NYPD), former candidate for Lieutenant Governor, and candidate for Congress in New York’s 18th Congressional District, issued the following statement regarding President Biden’s visit to the U.S.-Mexico border on Thursday and several violent crimes committed by illegal migrants within the last several weeks, including the murder of Laken Riley in Georgia.

Laken Riley’s tragic and horrific death at the hands of an illegal migrant has correctly sparked national outrage. If it wasn’t for failed pro-criminal policies like New York’s far-left cashless bail law and Joe Biden’s open border, Laken would be alive today. My opponent Congressman Pat Ryan, in 2019 as Ulster County Executive, signed an executive order making Ulster County a ‘sanctuary county’, barring any Ulster County agency from cooperating with ICE officers working to crack down on violent criminals who are here illegally. Adding fuel to a fire putting decent law-abiding New Yorkers at risk and creating even more of an incentive for illegal migration. Just this week, we saw another report of an illegal migrant arrested for sex crimes against a fourteen-year-old girl in Virginia.

How many American citizens must fall victim to senseless crimes before we close our southern border? Border security is national security, and I call upon Joe Biden to close the southern border immediately. Sadly, this pattern of violence, crime and lawlessness will only continue as long as Congressman Ryan and far-left Democrats continue to vote in lock-step with the Biden Administration’s open border and ‘sanctuary city’ policies.

Alison Esposito

Esposito has been outspoken in her call for the Biden Administration to close the southern border, as our nation has faced a wave of stories of violent crimes committed by illegal migrants in recent weeks:

In November 2023, Esposito joined a group of candidates and elected officials to visit the Yuma section of the Southern Border to witness the Biden Border crisis firsthand.

Alison is committed to harnessing the energy of the commonsense wave and creating a better way of life for New York families and citizens
