GOSHEN, NY – Today, Alison Esposito, a 25-year veteran of the New York Police Department (NYPD), former candidate for Lieutenant Governor, and candidate for Congress in New York’s 18th Congressional District, issued the following statement after Pat Ryan voted ‘NO’ on H.R. 7511, the Laken Riley Act, which would require Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain any illegal migrant charged with or convicted of burglary, theft, larceny, or shoplifting.
Pat Ryan disgracefully voted ‘NO’ on the Laken Riley Act, which would keep illegal immigrant criminals behind bars. This was a bipartisan commonsense bill supported by almost 40 Democrats. Laken Riley was murdered by an illegal migrant who was released back out onto the streets following an arrest for another crime. No family should have to go through the horror that Laken Riley’s family is going through. Yet we are seeing countless Americans become victims due to Joe Biden and his far-left allies like Pat Ryan, who opened the southern border, and now they refuse to close it.
How many more American citizens must we lose to senseless crimes before we close our southern border, Pat? Anyone who voted against this measure is responsible for the next attack on an American citizen. Pat Ryan is too extreme and too dangerous for the Hudson Valley.”
